ZiO JSC has been developing its industrial water management business since 2023. The company offers customers tailored engineering solutions, including water treatment plants that draw on a full range of available technologies, wastewater treatment systems, and chemical handling systems for storing and dosing acids, alkalis and specialized reagents.
ZiO JSC takes an integrated approach to industrial water management, accounting for each facility’s production processes and the composition of its wastewater and process condensates. The company treats water treatment plants, dry mechanical-draft cooling towers, condensate polishing equipment and wastewater disposal systems as interdependent parts of a single process. This approach helps coordinate individual units and select technical solutions that reduce capital and operating costs.
The company covers the full project cycle, including design, equipment manufacturing and supply, installation supervision, commissioning and process support.
ZiO JSC has completed two projects to date, with several others under way. Key facilities include the Partizanskaya and Neryungrinskaya power plants.
Partizanskaya Power Plant. ZiO delivered two interconnected facilities, a water treatment plant and a treatment system for blowdown wastewater from recirculating water systems.
The water treatment plant produces high-purity demineralized boiler makeup water using a membrane-based process combining two-stage reverse osmosis with electrodeionization. The plant for treating cooling tower blowdown and neutralized wastewater uses membrane technology comprising ultrafiltration pretreatment, reverse osmosis desalination and high-purity demineralization by electrodeionization.
A distinctive feature of the project is its cooling tower blowdown treatment system, which operates with a high concentration factor for blowdown from the recirculating systems. The solution is the first of its kind in Russia.
Neryungrinskaya Power Plant. ZiO supplied and installed equipment for the water treatment plant, boiler feedwater conditioning systems and treatment of cooling tower blowdown and neutralized wastewater. The water treatment plant follows a conventional configuration with a clarifier, rapid pressure filters, ion-exchange demineralization using hydrogen-form cation exchange and hydroxide-form anion exchange, and final polishing in mixed-bed filters.
The company’s specialists are behind each of these projects. Most of its process design engineers have more than 20 years of experience in water and industrial wastewater treatment. Their familiarity with current technologies and their understanding of each customer’s production processes allow them to account for how wastewater forms at every stage and optimize the facility’s overall water balance.
As part of an internal knowledge-sharing program, the water treatment team runs training sessions for colleagues from other disciplines. The specialists demonstrate current water treatment methods and share their experience designing integrated process solutions.
The expertise of ZiO’s specialists and the company’s systematic approach to design help it expand its project portfolio and develop water treatment as a business area in its own right, with room for further growth.
